To search the development version of the digital edition of the Chamber Books, please click here (directs to an external site). Users can also browse by manuscript and folio/page here (directs to an external site).

Both the search functionality and the visualisation of the Chamber Books on screen are still under development and work will be ongoing during the late summer and autumn. There is some advice and tips on searching available on the search page.

At the moment it is possible to search and browse the Payment sections of the Chamber Books, the Queen’s Book and two of the three Receipt books. The miscellaneous material at the back of the payment books (wards, obligations, recognisances etc) are not available to search at present, except for one example (E101/414/16) – the rest should also be available in the autumn.

Modernised version:
Users have the option to search and to view each page/folio either in the original middle English/Latin or in a modernised English version. The modernised version has been created entirely through automated processes by Katherine Rogers at Sheffield Humanities Research Institute, using dictionaries, syntax and orthography rules and drawing on existing spelling regularisation tools, but it is at an early stage of development and work is still ongoing on this function.
